![]() Spring 2010! Along with the replanting of all of our gardens (see Giverny )the time has come to do some repair and reimagining of our large mural in the upper gardens. It was first painted twelve years ago by the extremely talented artist, Kim Smerek. However, over the years it sustained some water damage that now has to be dealt with. Instead of just repainting what was there we decided to make it a growing, evolving piece. New images will be coming through the battered sections to finally someday reveal a totally new mural. Below are photos of the mural taken on April 19, 2010. The water damage is obvious. Here she is starting to create the new images. In this case, it's a beautiful mermaid. Voila! The finished lady. It wasn't all sunbeams and roses, however. Some nasty weather came in for a couple of days, and because she was on a tight timeline, Kim had to work through it. Like a true trooper she hung a tarp over the work area, put on her rain gear, and soldiered on . . . The rain finally lifted and the sun returned to everyone's gratitude. Below, you can see other areas to be worked on with their attentant sketches. And here, you can see the completed work! And, finally, the full mural in all of its glory. April 25th. Thank you, Kim. |
