BREAKING & ENTERING #101

A wise person always endeavors to know and refrain from UNDERestimating a potential adversary. The trick there is identifying that potential adversary then expecting the best and preparing for the not-so-best. Apparently, our little raccoon family has not been satiated with the food offerings on the feeding platform so they turned to nefarious practices – specifically, breaking and entering my apartment/office area where Fiona eats.

Once inside the crime scene, the marauders emptied all of Fiona’s dry food and wet food, relieved us of an entire container of treatietreats, tippled over her water dish (under-active salivary glands rather than cleanliness) and contents of the trash can containing empty cat food tins were EVERYWHRE. We were awash in little raccoon footprints thanks to mom and entourage. Intrigued at the intrusion, we placed a camera.

Finally, Fiona had had enough and escorted them out the way they came in.

Clearly, we needed to screw shut the pet door and close all windows. When the assault resumed the following night in spite of have massive numbers of towels jammed in the pet door blocking their entry, they actually pulled towels through the pet door to gain entry – pretty persistent criminals. Again! That night of course all my windows were secured but they are vigilant, bright, and persistent buggers so they tried anyway
