THE FRONT PORCH COMES TO LIFE!

Paint on the front porch has a definite lifespan of typically no more than about 2 years. Direct intense sun, other weather elements, and high traffic take their toll so we shuffle ourselves to spruce up about this time of year. We began with a complete repaint of the stairs by the garage leading to the Chauffeur’s Quarters then moved on to attack the front porch.

We finally got really smart in moving all the furniture to the front and painting the entire back first then only having to move the furniture back in place to finish the front area – go us go in reducing the moving element by half. We also wised up pretty quickly with the captain beginning the scraping task with absolutely the WRONG TOOL for the job which was promptly replaced with a much more efficient idea . . . a long-handled and wider scraper.

The entire job was completed in about 4 hours over a 2-day period, considering drying time.

It is incredible what a new coat of paint can accomplish.

These unseasonably sunny and warming conditions inspired everyone to put on their spring finest with hellis and the first of our volunteer violets.
