ARCHAEOLOGICAL SMALL FIND & MORE

You will recall that the upper garden was built on the site of the Perry Ling home and all visible remnants of that home and foundation were repurposed into the rose garden and the large pond. Even the walkway above the lower pond to the widow’s walk (the front porch landing at the top of the staircase of the former Ling home) was replicated in its location where there are also the remnants of their gate.

We also finally unearthed another pillar of the foundation in a spot where ‘wondrously’ we were never successful in growing grass! How could it have taken me DECADES to see that the bare spot lined up perfectly with other aspects of the foundation? Talk about a quick study, crispest chip in the bag kind of gal – that’s me! Finding these architectural landmarks fascinates me.  The next time you are here, check out the Images Vol. 2 and Historical Reference binders if you are interested in a more graphic understanding of the geographic landmarks.

Making best use of the day, Joshua continued the door painting spruce up with the able assistance of Braveheart Primo. We all so adore the free-flowing openness of the French doors without the screens, we will not be replacing those screens just right away.  Viva Al Fresco!
