. . . AND WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDLY PACKRATS! NOT SO MUCH REALLY.

Recently our angels were really looking out for us in the Reunited Resurrected garden when we were alerted to smoke streaming out of the back retaining wall ivy – yipes! The Jerome Fire Dept arrived in a flash and although there were no flames the smoke was significant. They quickly ascertained that packrats had chewed through an outside extension cord and on top of everything, the GFI failed to trip – another bigger yipes. These guys continue to amaze our small community members with their responsiveness, expertise and human caring. The situation could have been far more serious but it surely got our attention so action needed to be taken sooner rather than later. Here is what the wall, the burned English ivy and the GFI looks like as a result of the packrat’s mischief.

Braving a couple of cold and drizzly days, Joshua remedied the situation with surface-mounted electric extending across the back and side walls, replaced two failed GFI’s, and took the opportunity to install 3 new receptacles. All work was done up-to-code, of course, but we are going to take the next best safety step to invite Barry, the Jerome building inspector, to give us the A-OK with a walk-through. Safety first for our guests and of course for this grand home and property – whew . . .
