Dale Carnegie had not one living thing on our Ann, manager of the food bank.

Talk about a double-edged sword . . . we had some of the most spectacular monsoons this season and they were accompanied by typically gale-force winds.

We really try to keep our relationship with ya’ll interesting and intriguing and you know how devoted we are to the stewardship of this grand old gal, The Surgeon’s House.

To the best of our knowledge and research in compiling This Is Your Life - -The Surgeon’s House, from 1929-1945, my home was occupied by chief surgeon Arthur Charles Carlson.

Man, oh man was the serendipity flowing at our Wednesday food bank adventure.

Most of you know that I call TSH and the grounds my ‘Coconut Island in the Sky’ and it surely exudes an air of magic and other worldliness.

Another remarkable and outrageously fun and creative FIRST for us at The Surgeon’s House was a murder mystery conducted by the group of guests that were staying!

We really put on our Big Girl panties this week with master plumber Bob finishing running the water and gas lines and making all hook-ups ready for us.

We have been pretty diligent albeit plodding in our repair of the garden garage but finishing the painting and minor stucco repairs led to far more visible progress a couple of days down the road.

Our weekly trek to the Food Bank yielded slim pickin’s other than a plethora of mini cucumbers. Doesn’t it just speak pickles to everyone?

While it doesn’t look like much progress, we re-worked the damaged upper edge of the roof after removing the paradise trees that had caused the damage, finished re-stuccoing that outside wall, and then made the minor roof repairs required and laid new roofing material.

Little by little we continue repairing the garden garage as a project that has grown like Topsy.

In the ever-continuing saga of our repair of the garden garage we decided that we needed a new sewer hook-up but were ‘reluctant’ (delicately put) to pay the $5,500 for a new sewer hook-up when all we needed to do was locate our current hook-up.

Several months ago, we began what seemed like a slam-dunk of a project to create an addition to This Is Your Life: The Surgeon’s House binders.

Regardless of your view of the cosmos, we have all experienced magic moments when things just seem ‘to come together.’

This is a nearly-impossible story to record as Miss Prince finds herself UNcharacteristically speechless but the magnitude and gloriousity of these offerings demand thanksgiving and recognition.

We were graced to be led to Northern Arizona Sawcutters and Tim showed up lickety split to cut the concrete for the digging of the trench to lay our new sewer hook-up.

A mild-ish break in the weather allowed us to FINALLY really fix the water line outside the dining room that traditionally breaks and erupts like Vesuvius every winter – how annoying.

February 1, 2022, marked the beginning of the Chinese New Year which is the Year of the Water Tiger, spelling grand and glorious import for my home for this year – big yeas and ferocious anticipation.

We are nearly irrepressible with the arrival today of our ravens for the Reunited Resurrection garden stairway.

Welcome to 2022! Early this month and year we ran into what has become an unusually plentiful vegetable haul from the food bank so we ‘set to roasting’.
